Delicious herbal and tea mix to make Chai or Chai Latte. (see recipe below!)
Black tea with cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and cloves provide a warming Christmas feeling in your mug. Ideal for wet autumn and cold winter days.
In combination with water it becomes a delicious classic Chai, and if you use milk and sugar it becomes a Chai Latte.
Chai is essentially spiced tea and can be found in countless variations in many different countries, especially Asia. Mill & Mortar's chai is based on classic Sri Lankan spices, including Ceylon cinnamon, cloves, ginger, cardamom and mixed black tea, also from Sri Lanka.
Recipe for Sri Lanka Chai (1 cup):
- 1 teaspoon of Sri Lanka Chai with 25ml of boiling water.
- Add hot milk. Sweeten with sugar, honey, or syrup.
For instant tea: put tea and herbs in a sieve or filter and pour over boiling water. Let it steep for a few minutes. Add some warm milk and sugar if necessary.
The traditional way: bring water and herbs to a boil and cover the pan to simmer for 10 minutes. Add the milk and sugar while the Chai slowly reheats without actually cooking it.
Can be served hot in a cup with a piece of cardamom as a garnish or ice cold in a tall glass with ice cubes, whipped cream or ice.
